Stefan Pinto, portraying the conflicted priest, is seen preparing for the film’s signature aesthetic: a priest‘s cassock, hair down and heavy from the rain machines, a look that has already become synonymous with the project. Between takes, Stefan Pinto works closely with director of photography and Sora operators to lock in the A24-meets-David-Lean framing that defines the film’s visual language.
Henri Vallon’s presence as the older priest adds weight to the set. His scene announcing the arrival of the police is quiet, restrained, and nearly monastic. Vallon provide a stark counterpoint to the chaotic storm sequence at the climax. Initially, Pinto used another actor to portray the priest announcing the arrival of the police, but felt Vallon portrayed a more nuanced delivery of the pivotal line.
Camille Morel, as the Influencer, brings a modern rupture into the otherwise sacred world. BTS shows her reviewing blocking for the confrontation scene, and a playful hair and makeup capture with her and Stefan Pinto. Her dynamic with Stefan is electric even off-camera, as seen in the "break for lunch" images. Morel and Pinto share a kind of chemistry that helps define the film’s emotional pivot.
